I just scored a nearly complete set of Urusei Yatsura tapes! Vol. 1-18 of the tv series, 3 of the movies, and 3 of the ovas. To the best of my knowledge i am only missing 2 vol. of the tv series, 3 movies, and 3 ovas. These tapes were released by AnimEgo from 1992-2000. I've never even seen more than 4 vol. for sale at one time, and the ovas are exceedingly hard to locate. The dvds have been out of print for almost 20 years and go for hundreds of dollars, so getting to watch this legitimately is amazing.
1. Urotsukidoji: The Perfect Collection, vol. 1-5 box set, subbed
2.The Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors, vol. 1-7, subbed
3.Don't Leave Me Alone Daisy, vol. 1-6 box set, subbed
4.Eat-Man 98, vol. 1-6 box set, subbed
5. Record of Lodoss War, vol. 1-6 box set, subbed
6. El-Hazard: The Wanderers vol. 2-7 subbed box set and vol. 1&4 dubbed
7.Fishing Yugi: The Mysterious Play, vol. 9-16 box set, subbed
I've been selling my video game collection and turning it into anime vhs tapes. It's killing me not being able to upload any of these, as there is hardly any anime in the database. I've acquired about 250 tapes since the site stopped accepting submissions that are not in the database, and about 160 of these are anime.
I had a huge score last week. Found someone in the Netherlands who had an old abandoned rental shop he was clearing. Got about 275 movies mostly 90's action flicks from distributors i am collecting.
A Honeymooners VHS (The classic TV Show. Actually they're the so-called Lost Episodes of the show), the British VHS of Moonbeam's Beanstalk, and the Japanese VHS of the 1989 anthology film Freakshow.
I just scored the Frankenstein anime from Vestron for $8 shipped in very good/ like new condition. It's from 1984, and is the oldest anime vhs I've heard of.
I just got a complete set of Walt Disney Gold Classic Edition tapes (1-7 first set only) for $25. Snagged a buch of cartoons at auction yesterday too;lots of Johnny Quest, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Animaniacs, Aladdin's Arabian Adventures, Flintstones, Jetsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle. Its going to be saturday morning for the next couple of months.
On a whim yesterday morning, I typed in " cartoon vhs lot" on ebay. I found a lot of tapes for $10 with poor pictures. I looked through them, and in the junk are both Aladdin: King of Thieves and Aladdin: Return of Jafar, the 2005 re-release versions in slipcovers. Not sure what they are worth, there's nothing to compare them with.
@ JSpartan1989: I wouldn't be so sure about that. Those later release (2004-2006) Disney tapes are worth more than you might think. Just depends on what it is. I recently sold a copy of Mulan II (2005) for $15. I know thats not much compared what some other tapes go for, but for a 2005 release, that's pretty good. The 90s Disney tapes are completely worhless and are pretty much unsellable individually.
Bought the MCA Universal VHS releases of Mr. Write and Monolith.
And while not VHS, I also found the British DVD of Double Impact and the German DVD of Misery. Both are said to preserve the 1981 Columbia Pictures logo while a lot of domestic home video prints of those two films remove it.
I scored a lot of 46 erotic anime tapes for $47 shipped. This is a killer find as these tapes are worth $8-$15 each. It included 3 complete box sets. Some of the titles include the following:
1. Twin Angels, Volumes 1-4, complete
2. Count Down, 2 volumes
3. La Blue Girl, 6 volme box set
4. End of Summer, 2 volumes
5. Weather Report Girl, 2 volumes
6. Venus 5, 2 volumes
7. Imma Youjo, 5 volume box set
8. Cool Devices, 5 volume box set
... and a lot of other titles. Probably my best find to date.
I found a person on craigslist out of state, several hundred miles away, selling 84 anime VHS tapes for $100. I asked if they would sell them to me on ebay and ship, and they agreed. I got a lot of rare tapes and 5 or 6 complete sets. Some of the tapes I got were:
1.The Guyver: Out of Control (not on DVD)
2. Dracula, Vestron, (not on DVD)
3. The Guyver OVA vol. 1-6, original U.S. Renditions print
4. Mad Bull vol. 1-4
5. Crying Freeman vol. 1-5
6. Urotsukidoji III vol. 1-4
7. Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend
8. Appleseed, original U.S. Renditions print
9. Light Years, Starmaker
10. Guy: Double Target
11. Samurai Shodown
12. Battle Angel
13. Robot Carnival
14. Windaria
I now have all three Vestron anime; Dracula, Frankenstein, and Call of the Wild.
3. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Newfound Friends
4. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: The Great Honey Pot Robbery
5. Woodstock '99
6. The Mask (Edited for Families version)
7. VeggieTales: Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush
8. Fist of the North Star '86
9. The Brave Little Toaster
10. The Phantom Tollbooth
11. Sullivan's Travels
12. The Sixth Sense (For your consideration)
13. The Emperor's New Groove (For your consideration, ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIES OF ALL TIME! I got so lucky stumbling upon this!!! Boom bam baby!)
14. Birth of a Nation
15. The Fisher King
16. Korn with Life of Agony: Korn Flakes
17. Offspring Live Voltage
18. Schindler's List Promotional screening cassette
19. Arsenic and Old Lace (CBS/Fox '83 Fox Box cut into the hard clamshell)
20. Little White Lies (hard cut box, from Astral Video)
Ebay was running a 20% off everything cupon yesterday, so I bought a lot of anime hard clamshells. I got the following:
1. Armitage vol. 2,3,4, Pioneer
2. Kimagure Orange Road OVA vol. 2,3,4,5, AnimEigo
3. New Cutey Honey vol. 1,2, A.D. Vision
4. Bubblegum Crisis ep. 1, A.D. Vision
5. Burn Up! , A.D.Vision
6. Kishin Corps vol. 1, Pioneer
7. Kekko Kamen vol. 1, A.D. Vision
8. Cowboy Bebop vol 1,2, AnimeVillage.com
9. Several Dragon Ball Z movies, soft clamshelclamshells, Funimation
Over half of thses included the liner notes, which is awesome. Anime in hard clamshells are considerably harder to find than anime in slipcovers, and are generally more valuable, ranging from $8-20 for most titles. Only a handfull of companies used these, including Pioneer, U.S. Renditions, AnimEigo, Viz, AnimeVillage.com (aka Bandai), A.D. Vision, SoftCel, and the ever elusive prints from Dark Image. Dark image only released 4 hard clamshells, Guyver: Out of Control, 2 volumes of Devilman, and Kabuto.
I just picked up another lot of hentai from the same seller as the above tapes, including 5 more hard clamshells. I got the following:
1. Angel ot Darkness, SoftCel
2. Dragon Knight, A.D. Vision
3. Dragon Knight: Another Knight on the Town, A.D. Vision
I hit a flea market and some thrift stores out of town today, found some cool tapes, mostly stuff I'm going to sell. You can't go wrong at $.25-$.35. I found the following:
2.Video Trivia Vol. 3: Movies and Television, Best Film and Video Corp., clamshell
3.The Legend of Valentino, Prism Video, clamshell
4. The Maverick Queen, NTA Home Ent./ Republic Pictures, clamshell
5. Guiding Image: David and Goliath, Magnum Ent., clamshell
6. Guiding Image: Moses, Magnum Ent., clamshell
7. High Road to China, Warner HV, clamshell
8. The Killing Fields, Warner HV, clamshell
9. Riding Bean, AnimEigo, clamshell
10. Grey: Digital Taget, Viz, Orion, slipcover
11. Moby Dick (animated), MGM/UA, clamshell
12. Salaam Bombay(open but still in plastic), Virgin, slip
13. Your Ticket is No Longer Valid (open but still in plastic), Vestron, slip
14. Queenie (sealed), Starmaker, slip
15. Mesmerised, Vestron, slip
16. Robert Klein on Broadway, Vestron, slip
17. Kid Video: Pink Sphinx,Dic/ Golden Book video, slip
18. James Bond Jr. Episode 7, MGM/UA, Slip
19. 14 assorted volumes of Babylon 5, Columbia House/ Warner HV, clamshell
... and a bunch more. I am particularly pleased about finding the original subbtitiled clamshell version of Riding Bean. It was one of the first 8 tapes or so that AnimEigo put out in 1990, and it is very rare. It doesn't have the liner notes and is an ex-rental, but still a great find. All in all, a killer haul, and I left a considerable abount of mid to late 80s tapes. Maybe I should go back sometime when I have the money.
Snagged a slipcover variant of Disney's Treasure Planet yesterday. It is one catalog number up sequentialy from the regular version. Also got the original uncut subbed version of Rei Rei from A.D. Vision (the later versions are from SoftCel).
The first Atlantis or the sequel? Nevermind, I just found one. I didn't know they released a slipcover variant of the original Atlantis. I wonder if they did this with any others?
Found another VHS copy of National Treasure (rare late Disney release) I think that makes 3 in the past year. Also a lot of sealed stuff, documentaries, some TROMA, lots of DVDs, and Jane Fonda:
Just got 15 of the 30 volumes of Masion Ikkoku, 7/8 of the Irresponsible Captian Tylor OVAs, and 7/16 volumes of Kimagure Orange road. Also got vol. 1-13 (complete) of City Hunter and all off the movies/OVAs. Also got F3 parts 1,2,and 3. And Visionary part 2 by U-Jin.

3.Don't Leave Me Alone Daisy, vol. 1-6 box set, subbed

Sweet, I scored today (err, yesterday);
Radioactive Dreams
UHF
Airplane
Waking Life

1. A Star Is Born (California Video Dist. 1985)
2. It's A Wonderful Life (Republic Entertainment Inc. 2000)
3. The Buttercream Gang (Feature Films For Families 1996?)
4. The Incredible Shrinking Woman (MCA Videocassette Inc./MCA Home Video 1984)
I'm also new here.
Welcome aboard.

Hpe it is okay for me to post pictures to this thread. If not just let me know. It may not even show up, I've never tried it before.
Nice.
I'm sure it's fine.
