A sad day for internet forums

IMDb message boards, a feature I'm sure you all use, is being terminated.

http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/thread/265706940?p=1

This is really disappointing, but if you want to keep the dream alive, sign the petition.

IMDb/Amazon is pushing themselves away from their users by not allowing them to interact with each other. How sad. I suspect that they don't like all the back and forth arguing and debates within the forums. Political correctness strikes again.

Yeah it's sad. I still have a lot of posts on the various forums on the IMDb Boards.

Okay. As of this typing, unless I missed my mark, looks like the IMDb boards are truly no more.

There was a lot of valuable information in those forum post. To express that it was merely flooded with trolls is preposterous. It was a great place to find background information on obscure films or lesser known actors. What would you guys think about setting up VHSCollector.com so that each video or original title has its own message board? might be something worth considering.

But that's why we have the comments section on submissions. Right?

Exactly, or at least I thought that was what the comments section was for.  I try to add in comments on stuff I've seen or know about in the collecting realm, but usually I'm the only person to put a post on a listing.

The commenting section on a submission is incredibly limiting. Its smaller and its hard to have multiple conversations on a particular film at the same time. Its great to share tidbits or opinions, but not really geared for conversation.

It's sad, but it needed to go. So much hate and nonsense and I'm sure Amazon was spending too much money trying to monitor and regulate the boards. Of course - they could've just had members as moderators, but....who knows.
