A gay Toronto hairdresser gets much needed encouragement from his schizophrenic straight female friend to pursue his dream on stage and in drag.

Outrageous! is a Canadian comedy film, released in 1977. The film was directed and written by Richard Benner, and based on a short story by Margaret Gibson. The film stars Craig Russell as Robin Turner, a drag queen, and Hollis McLaren as Liza Conners, Turner's schizophrenic roommate. Outrageous! is based on the experiences of Russell and Gibson, who were roommates in real life.
Outrageous! was one of the first gay-themed films ever to receive widespread theatrical release in North America.[2] The film inspired the sequel Too Outrageous! released in 1987.
