ATrue Love Story...For everyone who believes in happy endings.

This tear-jerking sequel chronicles the further struggles and triumphs of former Olympic-hopeful downhill skier Jill Kinmont who was paralyzed in 1956 after a mishap during a race. This story picks up after she recovers from the death of the daredevil pilot who helped her come to grips with her quadriplegia. Though it has been difficult, Kinmont works hard to live a productive life. Things get even better when she begins a gentle romance with a loving truck driver.

The Other Side of the Mountain Part 2 is a 1978 film directed by Larry Peerce. It stars Marilyn Hassett and Timothy Bottoms. It is a sequel to The Other Side of the Mountain.[1] It follows a recovered Jill Kinmont who goes to Southern California and meets a man named John, who she falls for. But as they learn later, there is more to deal with than just a new romance.

Vincent Canby of the New York Times was not impressed: "The first film, directed by Larry Peerce, who also directed the spinoff, was a slickly prefabricated bathtub of movie sentimentality, at the heart of which was a gallant young woman facing real handicaps. 'Part II' is really a 30-minute postscript to that story, blown up to feature-length by artificial plot problems and so many flashbacks to the first movie that the second becomes a sort of reverse trailer, a coming attraction for something that's already gone. ...Mr. Peerce's direction suggests a certain amount of desperation. You can almost hear him asking, 'What can I do to make things interesting?'"[2]

Several years after the deaths of Dick Buek and her father, Jill Kinmont and her mother leave Los Angeles to spend their summer in their hometown of Bishop, California. They rent a summer house from a handsome truck driver named John Boothe. Jill is instantly captivated by John, but denies it to everyone, including herself. Eventually, Jill and John fall in love, but deep fears and hurts from the past threaten to be the couple's undoing.
