Sidney Sheldon's Bloodline (1979)

Additional Information

Additional Information
After the very successful Summer Paramount had in 1978 where it saw HEAVEN CAN WAIT , GREASE and FOUL PLAY become blockbusters unexpectedly, the studio tried to reproduce this in the Summer of 1979 when it released 7 movies of different genres -4 alone in June! All but 2 flopped -MEATBALLS (which was a pickup) and ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ. The others -PROPHECY, PLAYERS, NORTH DALLAS 40 and BLOODLINE were moderate to bomb proving that lightning doesnt ever strike twice.

When Sidney Sheldions THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT became a sizeable hit in 1977, Paramount took a chance with the same authors BLOODLINE. They seemed to do everything right-it had a murder plot, sex, an exceptional cast and lush costumes and music. Great parts do not make a great whole as this was savaged by critics.

Trivia: What tv comedy was Sidney Sheldon the creator of? In between Sheldons THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT and BLOODLINE being realeased his rival in the romance novel field had one of his film adaptations rekleased. The film starred three Oscar winning actors and was praised by such esteemed critics as Pauline Kael and Vincent Canby for its stars lead performance. Name the author, the film and the 3 actors?
