Although CHAINED HEAT , released in 1983 and starring Linda Blair, was considered the movie that brought back the Women in Prison film genre that was so big in the 70s, THE CONCRETE JUNGLE was really the restart of the genre. When it opened wide in New York on October 15, 1982, it topped the charts for one week, making over $1,000,000 on showcase. It wouldnt last long as the following week saw the release of FIRST BLOOD.

So far this has eluded DVD release. It was released theatrically by a small compamy called Pentagon Releasing but because of its success in NY it was picked up by the genre distributor Motion Picture Marketing (MPM) for national release. I do not believe this was rereleased on vhs by any other distributor.
