This made-for-TV effort stars Lindsay Wagner as Meg Laurel, an orphan who graduates Harvard Medical School and returns to treat the sick in her Appalachian hometown in the 1930s.
et in the 1930s, a female doctor returns to her birth town in the Blue Ridge Mountains after she had spent a certain period in the big city. She now has the intention of helping the poor residents after she had learned modern medical techniques in the big city. She becomes the rival of the local medicine woman, who is not pleased with her arrival and does not trust the modern science.
A big-city lady doctor returns to her roots in the backwoods of the Blue Ridge Mountains to bring modern medicine to the local folks in the Appalachia of the 1930s and finds herself at odds with the homespun ways of the local medicine woman. Originally this was titled "The Outlander." Veteran actress Jane Wyman returned to filmmaking here and was accorded the seldom used billing "Miss Jane Wyman."
