Americas favorite canine star is back!

A pint-sized pooch with enormous Hollywood ambition wanders the streets of Hollywood and Malibu beach in search for her big break in this canine adventure for the entire family. After a pair of run-ins with Vincent Price and James Darren, Mooch sneaks into a major movie studio for a visit with Jill St. John - who subsequently orders her hairdresser to give the star-struck pup a new hairdo. Later, Mooch crosses paths with actor Jim Backus, who takes her along to a big industry party attended by her old friends, Price, Darren, and St. John. While her showbiz connections fail to land her a starring role, Mooch soon meets a kindly master who will accept her for the fun loving canine companion that she truly is.


Mooch Goes to Hollywood is a 1971 television movie about an ambitious dog and her attempts to become a canine star after befriending Zsa Zsa Gabor, who provides the pooch with the skinny on the ins and outs of achieving Hollywood fame.[1] The 55-minute-long film was directed by Richard Erdman and co-written by Jim Backus, who also stars in the film as himself.
Mooch is played by Higgins the Dog (best known for his roles as "Dog" in the television series Petticoat Junction and as the title character in Benji). The picture is narrated by Richard Burton, who co-starred with Backus in the 1959 cinematic adaptation of Edna Ferber's Ice Palace.
A movie aimed primarily at pre-school children that likely will appeal to Baby Boomers due to its evocation of the entertainment world of their own youth, Mooch Goes to Hollywood features cameos from many of the top movie and television stars circa 1970 who appear as themselves, including Vincent Price, Jill St. John, Phyllis Diller, Sam Jaffe, Rose Marie, Dick Martin, Darren McGavin, Edward G. Robinson, Cesar Romero, and Mickey Rooney.
